Artwork Description
항렬자 is common syllable used in the names of family members to indicate blood relationship in Korea. Although the principle does not directly applicable to women, it was combined with the artist's name to represent living an extraordinary life, meaning from the Chinese character “秀”.

In Korean, the Chinese character for “outstanding” and “water” is pronounced the same as “su”. Water interacts with living things in multiple ways. Water symbolizes both life and death. It all began with human existence, when we were born into water and have always lived alongside it. People will die in the absence of water and during water-related disasters such as floods and droughts. With her "self-confidence will move me forward without fear," the artist suggests that she is an integral part of this cosmos like water.
